Draft for Eugene’s review. He hasn’t approved it yet, so please don’t pass this link on.

Eugene Kam finds the missing tenth

Operations, support and data work across Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, now aimed at the Formula 1 pit wall.

Dear pit wall

I’m Eugene. I’m from Kuala Lumpur and I live in Singapore, so I’ve gone from the home of Sepang to the home of Marina Bay without anyone paying me to look at a lap time.

I’m not a Formula 1 analyst yet, and I won’t pretend to be. What I have done since 2019 is the job underneath it: take a system that’s supposed to be working, find where it’s losing time or money, and prove it with the data.

At 5CA that meant lining up backend databases, behavioural logs, timestamps and geolocation until a fraudulent claim had nowhere left to stand. At SeaQuest it meant more than 1,000 vessels in one clean database, kept current every month. At Rectitude it means about 20 delivery loads a week, sequenced without direct supervision.

I hold AWS Cloud Practitioner and Google Project Management certifications, and I’ve trained in the basics of SQL and Python through re/Start. I know they’re basics. Further down this page there’s a real qualifying lap taken apart, and that’s the work I’m building towards.

Barista, January to June 2019, Kuala Lumpur

My first test bench. I experimented with brew time and equipment to get more out of the beans, ran the POS, and gave the owner clear gross and net revenue figures. Selling pastries and desserts to the extra traffic added 35% to monthly revenue.

Administrative Assistant, Project Coordinator, June 2019 to May 2020, Kuala Lumpur

Administration and project coordination at one of Malaysia’s mobile networks.

SeaQuest Intermediaries

Data Administrator, June 2020 to January 2022, Malaysia

1,000+ vessels consolidated into one new database

I pulled vessel records from an international pool of historical data into a new Excel database, so the firm could forecast insurability through a risk-averse lens, and I kept it current every month, region by region.

I also ran the flow of credit and debit notes for finance, to regulatory standard. The firm reported significant cost savings, a 45% quarter-on-quarter rise in revenue and a move to a new two-floor office.

The part I’d do again tomorrow was investigating limited-edition inventory claims. Cross-referencing backend databases, behavioural logs, timestamps and geolocation stopped fraudulent pay-outs and helped protect an estimated USD 250k in digital assets. Response times for Mandarin-speaking users improved by 20%.

Tested a live game and documented its defects. Different system, same habit: find the thing that’s wrong, then write it up so someone can act on it.

Papayen Ice Cream & Dessert

Operations & Growth Strategist, December 2024 to December 2025, Greater Kuala Lumpur

70% of daily sales revenue from the flagship

On the founding R&D team I co-developed a proprietary ice cream base built around locally sourced, premium-grade bird’s nest, made for mainstream tastes and as a healthier dessert. It became the brand’s primary revenue driver, and returning customers made up 35% of monthly revenue.

20 delivery loads a week, sequenced without direct supervision

I’m the sole coordination point between the main office and four retail outlets across the island, managing procurement and distribution of pavements and cement, sourced locally and from a neighbouring country. The loads run inbound and outbound between two primary suppliers and multiple clients.

It supports on average SGD 50,000 in monthly sales across 10 active client accounts, with audit-ready paperwork aligned to the reporting standards of a NASDAQ-listed company. I also unified item codes across the system so the inventory figures stayed accurate.

Yes, it’s paving. Somebody has to care about the road surface.

Where did 0.054 go?

Singapore, 10 October 2026. Max Verstappen took pole from Charles Leclerc by 0.054 seconds. After 4.9 km that’s 4 metres, less than the length of a car.

Leclerc led with one sector left

Verstappen’s time came on his first Q3 run and his second didn’t beat it, so Leclerc’s final run was his last shot at it. His middle sector put him 0.107 ahead with about 26 seconds to go. Through that sector he was quicker than Verstappen at five of the seven corners and slower at none.

Then he lost 0.161 in sector three

Verstappen’s 25.840 was the fastest third sector of the whole session, by anyone. Through it he was quicker at four of the six corners. Leclerc’s two wins there were a single km/h each.

The same choice, two results

At Turn 7 and Turn 16 Leclerc dropped to second gear where Verstappen stayed in third. At Turn 7 he carried 5 km/h more through the apex. At Turn 16, in the sector that decided pole, he carried 6 km/h less. The buttons above go straight to both.

How far this can be trusted: times at the three timing lines are official. Between them the public feed has about four to six samples a second. That’s enough to read apex speeds and gears, but too coarse to put a time on a single corner or to compare braking points, so nothing here does. The delta line is a broad trend pinned to the official splits, and the feed puts both cars on one line, so the 3D cars run a lane apart to stay visible.
